Description of Organization:
The MEDITERRANEAN SOS Network (MedSOS) is a Greek environmental NGO which was founded in 1990 and has since been active for the protection of the environment and the promotion of sustainable development at the national and Euro-Mediterranean level. To achieve its objectives, the organization works on a vast array of environmental issues ranging from Water Resources Management to Energy & Climate Change, Marine and Coastal Environment and many others.
Through informative campaigns, volunteer and environmental education programs, public events, online publications, social media, collaborations on a local, national and regional level, as well as a variety of national and EU projects (e.g. INTERREG, MED, LIFE, GRUNDTVIG, Europe For Citizens, etc.), MedSOS aims to:
MedSOS supports a multisectoral approach on sustainable development through networking and communication with scientists, experts, regional and local authorities, professional unions and the media. It is a UNEP/MAP Partner organization and also a member of the following international organizations and networks: European Environmental Bureau (EEB), European Union for Coastal Conservation (EUCC), Mediterranean Information Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development (MIO-ECSDE); International Network for Sustainable Energy (INFORSE), Climate Action Network (CAN), Anna Lindh Foundation and the Water Footprint Network (WFN).
